Match Report

Our third game of the Season.......and I'm pleased to report the unbeaten record remains in tact........just!

We hadn't faced this morning's opponents, Ashmore Park, for a couple of seasons. It's fair to say, they've grown into a really good passing team! Unlike last week, it was equally pleasing to report the good nature in which the game was played, with the APR Manager making sure his boys shook hands and checked on injured players

The game itself was, very much, one built on defence! After a poor first half, where we could easily have gone in 5 down, the boys came out battling for the second half. Added to this, we also possessed much more threat in attack. Whilst the GK, Defence and Midfield get the plaudits for standing firm, it was a bit of magic from Jayan that got us our equaliser.

Daniel - whilst he didn't get his clean sheet, he was instrumental in keeping it to one conceded. Brave and assured, he barked instructions when his defence showed signs of tiredness. A captains role and a deserved MOTM

Patrick - battled all morning. Beaten a couple of times in the first half, but came back stronger, throwing himself into every tackle

Jakey - a rock in defence. Won countless tackles and made several last ditch challenges to prevent certain goals

Philip - brilliant from the start, heading off his own line. Another who threw himself at everything that came his way

Noah - pretty much restricted to defensive duties this morning, but did that very well, with some vital tackles and interceptions

Ethan - played up front and in midfield. Whilst he chased everything up front, for little reward, it was in Midfield that he did his best work

Will - ran all morning. Showing a good partnership with Ethan and battled well

Luke - in unfamiliar territory, having to defend for most of the match. Made countless tackles and ran the ball out to relieve pressure on a weary defence

Mak - like Luke, was responsible for relieving pressure on the defence. Could have opened the scoring in the first half and at the heart of pretty much every attack

Louis - tigerish, as usual. Took a knock in the second half, but came back on, in Midfield, and got stuck into the opposition from the off

Jayan - it's a credit to Jayan that, having fed off scraps all game, he was still focused, when a chance did come his way, to finish superbly from outside the box. A great strike

Whilst it's fair to say we were second best, in terms of number of shots, we earned our luck this morning and Suk and I are proud of how the boys reacted to the half time team talk. Well done boys. COYL
