Match Report

It's testament to the boys unbeaten run, when they've played some brilliant football, that this morning may have felt like a bit of a disappointment. It shouldn't. First off, we were up against a very good team. Secondly, after an opening 15 minutes, when Tipton threatened to run riot, the boys re-grouped as a team and, with a little more luck and a linesman who wasn't playing games, egged on by his classy support, could have had the goals our play deserved.

Going into the break 3 down, the Lions came out fighting in the second half, with chances, and a legitimate goal, for Harrison and good efforts from Luke, Jayan and Mak.

Our run is finally over.......so let's start another.........against a team who, today, beat Creswell Wanderers (best team in the league) 3-1!! At least we have next Sunday off, to lick our wounds.

Daniel - not offered a lot of protection in the first half. Definitely played his part in keeping the goals against to a minimum. Good to hear Dan shouting at his defence!

Paddy - up against Tipton's best player, but stuck to his job well. Less attacks this week and, regrettably, didn't look likely to continue his red hot scoring streak!

Jakey - despite a bit of a rude awakening, with attack after attack to deal with, our CB eventually won his battles in a really good second half performance

Will - it's fair to say Will didn't take the news that I needed him to play left back well! That said, he got on with the job and shored up the defence, at a time when we could have been over run. A brilliant performance for the team and a deserved MOTM

Noah - some good attacks in the first half, doing well to close Tipton down when he could. One great through ball for Mak. Brought on in the second half, to good effect, to stop the threat of Tipton's jet heeled winger

Jayan - a frustrating morning for Jayan. Fed on scraps in the first half. Part of a much better team performance in the second half. Needs to remember he's got the ability to beat most defenders in this league

Philip - a tough first half for Philip, who was against a pacey attack. Regrouped and performed much better in the second half

Luke - never gave the Tipton defence a second. His harrying and chasing should have brought him a deserved goal

Harrison - like most of the team, a frustrating first half. Switched to Left Mid in the second half and was one of our standout players. A great debut which, but for some mischief, which had the classless element of the Tipton support in fits of laughter, from the linesman, he would have had his first Lions goal.

Mak - linked well with Harrison in the second half and played some fantastic through balls which deserved better. Didn't quite make it a hat trick of MOTM awards!

Ethan - grew as the game went on, playing a Captains role. One fantastic run and shot, in the first half, was the highlight

This fixture, and the next one, against Lodge Farm, are all good for the boys development. Please don't expect too much from the Cup game against Lodge Farm! They're one of the best teams in the league. We'll be back up and running, when we play teams of a similar ability, in the coming weeks.
