Match Report

A break from League action......with a Cup game against, arguably, the best team in the Walsall League, in Lodge Farm Tigers! Whilst my natural thought is always to the hope that the boys don't take a hammering, I should know by now that the Lions are made of sterner stuff.

For 40 minutes we held Lodge Farm 0-0......this was down to a mixture of wonderful saves, superb defending and a sprinkling of luck, but nobody could tell me we didn't deserve it! While weary legs saw Lodge Farm run out worthy 4-0 winners, everyone who played this morning should be proud of themselves. Not once did their heads drop.

Daniel - took the weight of the first goal on his shoulders. He shouldn't have, as he was fantastic all morning - kicking, catching, wonder saves - a 10/10 performance.....and, obviously, MOTM

Patrick - brilliant all game. Up against some speedy wingers, but not once did he give anything up as a lost cause

Jakey - some great interceptions from our Captain. Threw his body at the ball to save a certain goal on more than one occasion

Philip - superb from the start. Didn't panic under severe pressure and made some vital blocks

Noah - a great game down the right - mainly in defence! Him and Paddy had their work cut out, but he defended tirelessly all game

Ethan - some great tackles, back tracking and vital interceptions. Another who gave it his all

Luke - did all the dirty work in defence, but also found time for a speculative shot on target and some great forward play in the first half

Mak - pushed back from his usual attacking role, Mak was vital to our first half clean sheet, heading over/away on a number of occasions.....and he still found time for some left wing trickery

Jayan - worked tirelessly, helping out our defence, also finding time for pass of the first half and a couple of half chances

Louis - gave as good as he got, both at Left back and CM. Tigerish tackles and vital clearances.

Back to the League and Bentley Panthers next week.....and back to Whittington Barracks on Friday. 6.30pm to 7.30pm!

Well done boys. COYL
