Match Report

A disappointing morning for the Lions, going down 3-1 to a Great Barr side, who showed far more hunger to win the game. Whilst I'll always excuse the boys mistakes, there was far too much ball watching this morning - and it was this that led to our second league defeat of the season

In spite of the above, there were some bright moments - Dan made several good saves, our attacking play (at times) caused Great Barr problems and, finally, a first Lions goal for Harrison. We'll work on these positives, along with cutting out the mistakes, in Training this week

Daniel - see above. Thankfully, when all around him tool a break, Dan stayed alert to keep the score respectable

Paddy - solid in the first half, clearing the danger on more than one occasion. Came in for an injured Philip in the second half

Jakey - part of a defence that took time to settle, but grew into the game and looked back to his usual self in the second half

Louis - did OK in the first half, best excelled at Centre Back in the second

Noah - some neat passes in the first half and a long range effort in the second

Will - a really good first half, with his long range effort our best chance. Win plenty of headers and tackles

Luke - looked really lively in the second half and caused plenty of problems for the Great Barr defence

Ethan - had to slot in at right and left back, but never moaned and did well there and in Midfield, showing great versatility

Harrison - captain for the day, scoring a calmly finished first Lions goal. A real attacking threat in the second half. MOTM award to go with his goal

Philip - won some great tackles, one of which ended his game prematurely

Aran - a solid debut for our new boy. Really got stuck in and, but for a bad bounce, would have had a chance to open his account

Mak - the purple hair didn't quite work! A couple of scoring chances and was lively all morning

Jayan - a couple of chances in each half that didn't quite carry his usual power. The goals will come!

In spite of the disappointment, I'm confident the boys will be back on a winning run before long!
