Match Report

The Lions made an excellent start to the New Year, running out comfortable 5-0 winners against Bentley Panthers. Whilst they didn't have things all their own way, and there were some nervy moments, caused, in the main, by our own failings, the boys certainly deserved their victory.

Whilst some of the passing displayed this morning was superb, the over critical may say that we should have scored more goals and, at times, looked like we were trying to walk the ball in, rather than take a shot.

Daniel - a much quieter morning for our Number 1. That said, he still managed a couple of great saves and deserved his clean sheet

Patrick - didn't put a foot wrong and linked up really well with Noah in the first half. Took a knock in the first half, but kept going

Jakey - a couple of lapses in concentration aside, it was a good morning for Jakey. A couple of last gasp challenges were the highlight

Louis - outstanding all morning, whether at Left Back or Centre Back. Won every challenge and distributed the ball really well. A thoroughly deserved MOTM against some tough competition

Philip - distribution and tackling was first class. Up against a tricky winger, he did really well

Aran - did really well in CMF, winning countless tackles and passing the ball well. Filled in at RB and did well there too

Ethan - solid in the tackle and some great link up play with his forwards. If he had the confidence to shoot more, the goals will come

Will - a solid morning in Midfield from Will. Another who may have added his name to the scoresheet with a bit more belief

Noah - some great runs down the wing and a peach of a through ball to set Mak up for his goal. Some good back tracking to help out in defence

Harrison - unplayable at times. Had his full back running in circles for most of the game. A well taken goal........should probably have helped himself to a couple more. A MOTM contender

Mak - see above. Some really neat turns and a couple of superb passes to set Jayan up. Scored one......should have been a lot more!

Jayan - back on the goals, with 3 really well taken efforts. But for a couple of close offside calls, would have had more. Shows how good Louis was to beat Jayan to the MOTM award. A great performance

Still plenty to work in in training, but Sunday's are definitely more enjoyable after a win. Keep it up boys. COYL
