Match Report

The Lions rounded of their Division 2 (First Half) campaign with an entertaining game against Holy Name Manor. Whilst the boys ended up on the wrong end of a 2-0 scoreline, they didn't go down without a fight.

Our usual slow start, saw us one down after a couple of minutes. Coping without an injured Will, an absent Harrison and a far from fully fit Noah, the boys soon upped their game and, but for the final ball, could well have earned a point. As it was, Holy Name deserved the win.

Daniel - nothing he could do about the goals. Kept the score down when we had our backs to the wall and his kicking was first class all morning

Jakey - back to his best, in Midfield and defence. Some superb tackles. Great to see him throwing himself into an early Stuart Pearce style block

Louis - played all game at CB and was excellent. Read the game really well and managed to get us on the attack on more than one occasion. A deserved MOTM

Arun - looked good in defence and attack. Some neat turns down the left wing that set Mak away

Philip - getter better each week. His passing and tackling was excellent all game

Noah - limited to about 25 minutes. None of his usual runs down the line, as he continues t struggle with a back injury.........should, however, have shot when he had the chance!

Ethan - a great morning. Looked in determined mood and involved in most of our brighter moments. Ran Louis very close for MOTM

Max - a really good first half, which ended with an unluckily ruled out goal. Some work to do on releasing the ball quicker, but that will come with time

Mak - loads of tricks and mazy runs from our Captain. Set up most of our chances and another who was in the running for MOTM

Jayan - up against a really good defender, but held his own and had a couple of half chances.

Paddy - solid, once again, at the back. Great tackling and first rate distribution

Luke - it was a game of what might have been for Luke. Edged out on half a doxen occasions, when it looked like he was about to finish

The result leaves us in 5th but, with Great Barr having games in hand, we may drop to 6th over the coming weeks. This is good enough to keep us in Division 2, so mine and Suk's jobs would appear to be safe.......for the time being anyway!
