Match Report

It was good to be back in action, following a longer than expected Winter Break!

We were starting our second campaign in Division 2 against a familiar opponent, in Holy Name Manor.

After a superb first half, in which the new look 3-3-2 formation really took the game to Holy Name, we were slightly disappointed only to be leading 1-0, courtesy of a goal from Mak, at Half-time. Chances that fell to Jayan, Noah, Luke and Mak all went begging.

The second half, whilst it had its moments, was defined by the odd lapse in concentration, which resulted in us conceding 3 unanswered goals

Daniel - whilst untroubled for much of the game, he still came off his line well, kicked well, and saved everything that came his way. Could do little about the goals

Louis - ran Ethan really close for MOTM. Was superb all morning and really unlucky with the deflected OG. Opposition Manager singled Louis out for special praise

Paddy - kept up his form pre-break, with some great blocks and tackles. Linked well with Noah

Philip - gets better each week. Some really good control, timely interventions and neat passing

Aran - another morning where Aran showed his versatility. A good performance at Right Back and an even better one in CMF.

Jakey - battled all game against a lively Holy Name attack. Got in some great tackles

Will - a stand out player in the first half. Could have got his name on the score sheet with a speculative effort. Never gave up a lost cause.

Ethan - covered every blade of grass/bit of mud on the pitch. Like Will, never gave up a lost cause. Some neat passing and great tackles earns him the MOTM.

Noah - a good first half, where he was instrumental in our attacks. A snap shot with his left and a volley from a Jayan free-kick could have doubled our lead

Luke - his chance at goal probably came too early after his introduction. Another who gave everything on a warm afternoon.

Jayan - thrived with a strike partner. Some great set pieces, which really tested their keeper. Never gave the defence a moments peace, particularly in the first half

Mak - some of his footwork in the first half was sensational. Some superb skill to control the long kicks from Dan. A goal and, if I'm being over critical, should have had a hat-trick

If we play like we did in the first half, for the remained of the season, then I'm sure we'll win more games than we lose. Well done boys.
