Match Report

Another slow start from the boys gave them their just desserts, this time by way of a 5-2 defeat. Whilst the second half showed a marked improvement, both in commitment and performance, the damage was done inside the first 10 minutes.

There were some highlights - a superb headed goal from Philip, which was his first of the season. His face afterwards was a picture! Jakey got in on the act with his first of the season, with an equally good finish.

Daniel - bar one misunderstanding with Paddy, that led to the second, Dan was his usual faultless self.

Paddy - see above. Bar this, was superb all morning and the pick of our players in the first half

Louis - arrived in time for the second half and looked solid throughout. Goals against took a knock, as I switched to 2 at the back as we chased the game, so no blame on Louis

Philip - a fantastic headed finish for his first of the season. Beaten by his man once, but was solid in the second half and a deserved MOTM

Will - like Paddy, was one of the few to come out of the first half with any credit. Good to see him taking a couple of long range shots

Ethan - a really good second half. Really took the game by the scruff of the neck and drove the Lions forward

Aran - another who had a really good second half, tigerish in the tackle and used the ball well. Had to be sacrificed late on as we chased the game

Noah - can be excused the missed penalty, as everyone else took a step backwards! His corner delivery was superb all morning, nearly scoring direct with one

Jayan - fed off scraps all game. Chased and harried to no avail. A frustrating morning for Jayan

Harrison - as above. Did have a couple of sights of goal and linked up well with Mak in the second half

Mak - came to life in the second half. Harshly adjudged to have been offside from one move, when he had judged his run perfectly

Jakey - our captain was solid in defence and Midfield and a first goal of the season. A pretty decent morning!

Luke - some great link up play with H and Mak in the second half. Just needs to be a bit more ruthless and he'll be back in the goals

As I said a couple of weeks ago, we're in Division 2, so it was always going to be tough. As long as the boys approach the game as they did in the second half, then they'll continue to develop. Play like the did in the first and it will be a hard slog until the end of the season.
