Match Report

Whilst he unbeaten run ended, at the hands of Great Barr Harriers, the team, without the services of Harrison, Jakey, Noah & Aran can all hold their heads high.

For those not aware, I was put on the spot before KO, in being told that Great Barr had drafted in a replacement Keeper and, as it was just a friendly, assumed I was ok wth that. Not wishing to send a 12 year old boy home without a game, I reluctantly agreed. What I didn't realise was the replacement keeper was first choice for a Midlands Premier League side. Given the comments that "it was just a friendly," I'd hoped the Great Barr Manager may have taken the "ringer" off when they were 4 up, as they had plenty of subs.......no such luck/class.

In terms of the game, our boys began well, with some solid defending, but tired as the halves wore on........if I'd known we were allowed to draft anyone in, I'd have sought extra bodies......then again, "it was just a friendly," so better to lose as a team than win with someone else's

Daniel - our number one didn't have much luck this morning. One save out of the top drawer and plenty of routine ones - well, made to look routine anyway!

Paddy - up against a really good winger, but stuck to his task and, bar one nutmeg, which brought words of encouragement from the absent Noah, was solid all game!!

Louis - a really good game at the back for ur Captain for the day. Up against one of the strongest players I've seen at this level, Louis never once backed out of a tackle

Philip - a superb first half, where he was our best player. Tired as the game went on, which is not surprising, given the among of work he got through

Ethan - started (really well) at RB, before moving into a more familiar RMF role. Battled gamely all morning

Mak - a dazzling first half and a good second gave Mak the MOTM. Was unlucky not to have added to his goals tally in an all action display

Max - getting more game time under his belt and battled well. Put in some good tackles and assisted as we pushed on in search of a goal

Jayan - ploughed a lone furrow up front on his own. Some neat link up play with Mak and Luke in the first half, but was feeding off scraps

Luke - a really lively first half when, with a bit more luck, could have had a goal. Kept battling right until the final whistle

Will - shaking off a bout of illness, Will did well to last the full 60 minutes. Battled for ever ball and covered a lot of ground

Only 2 more 9v9 games left.........lets try and make sure we win them both, to end the season on a high!
