Match Report

Match reports are back........

Having sent the boys out with instructions to "keep it tight for the fist ten," I was mistaken in thinking they'd realise I meant minutes. Twenty seconds after KO the master plan lay in tatters!!

Whereas last week offered very few bright spots, I'm much happier this week........despite going down 5-1, we matched Bloxwich for long periods and, with smarter finishing and a little more luck, the scoreline should have been much closer.

I'll focus on the positives as, having watched Wolves yesterday, realise it's too early in the season to be too harsh on the team!

In defence, marshalled by Will, the boys stuck to their task. Paddy made some excellent tackles, with Jakey and Louis dogged against a big attack line. Philip was calm and collected on the ball and I don't recall many of his passes going astray

Dan will probably be beating himself up over a couple of kicks, but he more than made up for it with a string of top quality saves that kept us in the game

Our Midfield, which consisted of Noah, Mak, Max, Ethan, Luke and Aran all had their moments. Noah beat his man down the line and put in some decent crosses, Mak and Luke provided the link to the forward and made some great runs, with Max, Ethan and Aran all running themselves into the ground to try and combat a strong Bloxwich Midfield

Up front, Jayan and Harrison also had their moments, none more so than Jayan's wonderful free kick to get us off the mark for the Season. In the end, however, it was his strike partner who took home the MOTM award..........his constant running, goal threat and encouragement of all around him made it a well deserved award.

Here's hoping that next week is more like the opening 10 minutes of the second half, rather than the opening 20 seconds of the first!
