Match Report

It seems to have been a while since I last did a match report so, in spite of the final scoreline, I feel this morning's performance, particularly the second half, deserves some recognition!

We've talked plenty about how we feel the boys are probably playing a league above their level and, it's fair to say, we've faced some pretty good teams! Despite, at times, a gulf in class, the boys have never once complained, which is to their credit. More so, bar the abject performance against LA Cobras, they've given it their all in the last few games.

Whilst the defending and tracking back were a little off in the first half, the boys really gave it a go in the second half and, whilst I'm never going to suggest Walsall didn't deserve their win, with a little more luck, the scoreline could probably have been a little closer.

In the end, we scored 3 goals, all of which were down to determination, as a team, to win the ball

Daniel - some great claims, accurate kicks and the usual quality saves. No keeper would have stopped 5 of the goals conceded this morning

Paddy - his usual determined display, winning plenty of tackles against some really good wingers

Jakey - some great tackles and good distribution. Won his battles in the second half

Will - a superb performance. Always willing to slot into defence when needed and didn't let us down.

Philip - never gave up, even when it looked a lot cause. Some good passes up the line and covering tackles

Noah - played on both wings, but came into his own in the second half. Involved in a lot of our bright moments attacking-wise

Ethan - ran his socks off. Battled against a really good midfield. Broke play up and set up several attacks

Jayan - played in an unfamiliar midfield role in the second half and did superbly well. Another who set up plenty of attacks in a good second half

Max - his best performance in a Lions shirt. Tired in the second half, due to lack of minutes, but still pressured the defence and had a chance to open the Lions scoring through sheer determination. A MOTM contender

Mak - two goals, which he earned through his determination. Always involved and battled all morning. Another MOTM contender

Luke - superb all morning. Never gave the defence a moments peace. Set up our best chances and got a thoroughly deserved goal. A well deserved MOTM

If we continue to show the same desire, Suk and I will be very happy. Well done boys.
