Match Report

The first few minutes were filled with Four Oaks pressure on the Measham goal but no goals were forthcoming.

The flood gates opened when Alex broke down the left and crossed to Lewis who slotted the ball home. James then won the ball in midfield and played a cheeky through ball to Josh who did the rest to put us two up. A third was added when James again won the ball in midfield this time putting Alex through to fire home. Next, a long ball over the top found Josh who laid the ball off to Alex who knocked in his second and Four Oaks’ fourth goal of the game. Josh then got his second after playing a neat one-two in the box with James and finishing with a delightful chip over the Measham keeper.

You could be forgiven for thinking you were watching the great Leeds United side of the 1970’s when, after Four Oaks passed the ball from defence and through midfield, Pav and Olly played the ball back and forth to each other before Olly fired in a cross that was met by Lewis who made it 6-0. Lewis then latched onto a Pav through ball and made it seven before Elliot got number eight by knocking in Pav’s corner from the right. Josh played another one-two in the box, this time with Lewis and made no mistake in netting Four oaks’ ninth. Alex made sure we made double figures before the interval when yet another through ball found him in the box and he made the rest look easy.

The second half started in the same way as the first had ended…

A long ball from Alfie in defence found Josh who bagged the eleventh. I’m not sure how he managed it but Pav scored the twelfth when his corner from the left went straight into the Measham net. Straight from the re-start Mario found the ball and after a mazy run put us 13-0 up. He added numbers fourteen and fifteen with assists from Pav and Lewis respectively.

Measham, evidently frustrated with how slowly we were scoring, decided they would help things along by putting the ball in their own net to increase the margin to sixteen. Lewis got goals seventeen and eighteen by firstly firing home after battling his way through the Measham defence and secondly by meeting Rob’s excellent cross into the six yard box. Mario scored the next two, both set up by the impressive Josh taking the score-line to 20-0.

Mario turned provider for the next when, through on goal he unselfishly slid the ball across to Henry who placed the ball into the empty net. Henry then set up harry with a perfect cross that harry deftly volleyed into the back of the net. Rob then set Mario up for his sixth goal making it 23-0. Two almost identical goals followed, both scored by Harry and both set up by Mario. Alfie made it 26-0 when he headed home Rob’s corner from the right and Mario made sure we would take all 3 points when he met Rob’s cross and made it 27-0.

A special mention must go to the Measham keeper who refused to give up. If Mario were sprinting full pelt towards me I would ensure I got right out of the way. The plucky keeper didn’t and even late in the game continued to battle for every ball despite the game being well out of reach.
